The Rohingya Student Network (RSN) participated in a series of important and timely exchanges with key international stakeholders in New York this week to discuss the deteriorating situation facing the Rohingya community in Myanmar and across the region. These engagements were conducted alongside representatives from the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU).
During these discussions, RSN engaged with representatives from all P5 members and elected members of the United Nations Security Council, as well as officials from the European Union, the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy on Myanmar, and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
The exchanges focused on the rapidly evolving situation in Myanmar, particularly in Rakhine State, where Rohingya civilians continue to face severe humanitarian challenges, displacement, and insecurity. RSN shared perspectives from the Rohingya community and emphasized the urgency of sustained international attention and coordinated action.
RSN highlighted the importance of maintaining humanitarian assistance for Rohingya refugees, expanding access to education opportunities for Rohingya youth, and ensuring protection for civilians affected by ongoing violence in Rakhine State. The discussions also addressed broader issues related to international accountability, regional diplomacy, and the importance of ensuring Rohingya inclusion in processes that shape their future.
“These exchanges provided an important opportunity to bring Rohingya voices directly to international decision-makers,” RSN stated. “Continued engagement with global and regional actors is essential to address the ongoing crisis and to advance protection, justice, and dignity for the Rohingya people.”
The Rohingya Student Network reaffirmed its commitment to continued advocacy and dialogue with international partners to support the protection of Rohingya civilians and pursue a durable and rights-based solution to the Rohingya crisis.
